Arianne Caoili Memorial Weekender 2024 - Tournament Report

Updated: Aug 27

The Gold Coast Chess Club hosted the 4th Annual Arianne Caoili Memorial Weekender over the weekend.

For the first time the tournament was spit into two divisions - Open and Minor.

The Open Division was held as a FIDE rated event and included two of Australia's famous Grandmasters, GM Zong-Yuan Zhao and GM David Smerdon who were the joint winners of the 2023 event.

The event took place at the prestigious Broadbeach Cultural Centre, a world-class venue located in the heart of the Gold Coast. Just steps away from The Star Casino and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, many players took advantage of the prime location, enjoying visits to the nearby beach between rounds.

Thank you to all participants in the 2024 Arianne Caoili Memorial Event. Special thank you to all the titled players who joined the event in honour of WIM Arianne Caoili.
